Right now, Target's online store is run by Amazon, but the mega-retailer wants to branch out on its own. By the 2011 holidays, Target will launch a revamped, redesigned, and rebranded website. New features include "enhanced search and navigability, checkout/cart experience and branding and signage," reports WWD. "Categories will be expanded, including some not now sold online, unique experiences within product categories will be created and possibly a buy online/pick-up at the store option." Any way of avoiding the shopping cart gridlock at the WeHo Target gets a gold star from us. [WWD, subscription req'd]
