Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
MALIBU—Before heading back from the beach this weekend, we suggest stopping by the Oliver Peoples boutique at the Malibu Country Mart. This Saturday from 6pm-9pm, all glasses will be between $90 and $120 (normally, they're no less than $300). DJs and cocktails will be on hand to set the shades shopping mood, and if you can't make it this weekend, they're doing it all again on Saturday, July 25th. [RackedWire]
DOWNTOWN—For a little bit of fashion with your Artwalk, look no further than DIY clothing den Apliiq (548 S. Spring St.). During tonight's festivities, they'll be hosting legendary airbrush artist Phade, who rose to fame in the '80s by tagging both NYC subway trains and Sale 'N Pepa's wardrobes. He'll be creating 'wearable art' (by which we think they mean hoodies and t-shirts) in collaboration with the Apliiq crew, all in the name of Publicolor (an organization that promotes creativity among at-risk youth). And, as you may have guessed, there will be plenty of live background music. [RackedWire]
