Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

There's a new kid on the online sample sale block—BadJoan.com, which recently launched at the hands of LA-based knitwear designer Brooke Wilen. Unlike lots of similar sites, with their invite codes, logins, waiting lists and ticking clocks, Wilen's concept is refreshingly simple: just a flat 80% off a constantly updated variety of designers, 24-hours a day. As Wilen tells us: “I really wanted badjoan.com to be a win-win for everyone involved—the designers get rid of overstock and the customers get an incredible deal. Why add another step in there and make things harder than they have to be?"

Design-wise, the site isn't as slick as its counterparts, and its roster doesn't include any headlining names. But what it does have is a decent selection of boutique labels, many of which are local and eco-friendly— some highlights we spotted include Marcello Toshi shoes for under $100 (regularly over $400), Purp7e swimsuits for around $40, and basic tees by Splendid alum Tiffany Saidnia's TT Collection for $25. And if you see something you like, Wilen's offering free shipping through next Thursday with promo code RACKEDLA— ok, so we guess not all codes are a bad thing.
