Not every retailer has been suffering in the recession—just ask Morrie's, a veteran off-price clothing shop in the Fashion District. Owner Gary Pazornik tells California Apparel News that, not only has business picked up in recent months, but “The selection has gotten better, and we have lowered our prices," presumably because more brands have more unsold stock to offload. During a recent visit, the paper spotted pieces by Tee Party, St. John, Juicy Couture, Polo Ralph Lauren, and a host of premium denim brands for as little as $5, with new fall merchandise already discounted by 20%.
