LA-based shoe designer George Esquivel has been nominated for this year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund for up-and-coming designers. Esquivel, known for his exquisitely handmade lace-ups, was chosen from what Anna Wintour calls a "very strong applicant pool," and is counted among other finalists like Sophie Theallet and Patrik Ervell. If he's named a winner or runner-up on November 16, he'll receive cash and a mentorship to help take his label to the next level. [Vogue Daily]
