As of July 31, Malibu denizens will have more than just J Crew to satisfy their colored cashmere cravings. For that's when luxury knitwear label Vince will open its third LA-area boutique, nestled between Ralph Lauren and James Perse at the Malibu Country Mart. The new shop comes at a time of major expansion for Vince—ten stores across the country are slated to open in the next year, despite the fact that parent company Kellwood is teetering on the brink of bankrupcy. As co-designer Christopher LaPolice tells WWD: "I would be lying if I said it isn’t a little scary rolling out in a recession, but I see a lot of opportunity in these neighborhoods we are entering.”
