"Self-proclaimed garage sale guru" Casey Patty revealed a few of her underhanded bargaining tactics in an NBC LA news segment last night. First, she suggests keeping large bills hidden in the back of your wallet, rationalizing "You can get...the price down if you just show them ones or that you just have a five left...so I always keep a five in the front." Other tips include feigning destitution with a grungy bag, and hiding the things you want behind less desirable merch, then coming back later when sellers are more likely to lower prices. The best part? After all this strategizing, Patty walked away with such gems as an American Girl t-shirt and a large piece of wood. [NBC LA]
