iPhrenzy: An Update From the Front Lines

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

One last iPhone 3G S update before we send you off on your weekends: All stores still have all models in stock, but the Beverly Center and Sherman Oaks shops are particularly depleted. Average wait times currently around an hour, although we think this might increase once the after-work crowd hits.

Beverly Center—Line still isn't very long, but don't be deceived. A sales rep says most of their allocation has gone to pre-order customers, and stock is running very low. And we quote, "In the time it would take you to get here, we will probably be sold out."

The Grove—All models still in stock, wait could be "up to an hour"

3rd Street Promenade— Still have all models, last time they checked the wait was about a half hour

Glendale Galleria—All models are still in stock, wait is still "over an hour."

Century City—Still have all models, wait is currently at an hour and a half.

Pasadena— Still have all models, wait is about an hour

Sherman Oaks—They've got lots of the black models, but very few white ones left. Wait is anywhere from a half hour to an hour
