Our sister site, Curbed LA, reports that plans to bring a Trader Joe's to Burton Way and Le Doux Road have been approved by the planning and land use management committee. If the project goes on to be approved by the City Council, the shop will eventually be situated beneath an 88-unit apartment building, all masterminded by developer Rick Caruso. Says Curbed: "We listened in to yesterday's meeting, and a least one of the public supporters mentioned the need for a grocery store in the neighborhood. The Los Angeles Times also recently covered the project, noting that the project has 'been widely praised by residents who welcome the project as a smart addition to the neighborhood.'" [Curbed]
