Our post last week about Santa Monica's Main Street, which lost both Blonde and the Closet this spring, inspired the people behind boutique B.NY to send us an SOS. "Our store, B.NY, is across the street from Blonde on Main and is struggling not be befall the same fate," they write. The boutique, which has been around for 17 years, carries lines like Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander Wang, and Rick Owens Lilies—none of them particularly easy to find elsewhere in the neighborhood, as the store owners explain:
Some of these designers and their pieces are not widely available or even known about in Los Angeles, but they are very special, unique pieces and I think people should be aware of how different they are and that there is a small, local boutique where they can find them.
For many years, this store has been a best kept secret for people such as Robert Downey Junior to Julia Roberts and many others, but now we need to really let people know we're here in order to make it through these hard economic times and help keep the local vibe alive on Main Street. To that end, B.NY has put everything in the store on sale for between 20% and 75% off. They're also hosting a shopping event this Wednesday for Girbaud (which has apparently undergone a rebirth recently.) If their plight moves you, stop by the shop, at 2449 Main Street, between 6pm and 8pm Wednesday—or any time, really. Main Street could use all the help it can get.
