Hangover Observations: Wren Lands at Feature

Resplendent in a mustard yellow cardigan and batik miniskirt of her own design, Wren's Melissa Coker was on hand last night to toast her new shop-in-shop at Brentwood boutique Feature. For the rest of the month,Wren's whole spring/summer line will be showcased at the store, making it the only place to shop the collection in its entirety. "Concepts like this are a novelty in Brentwood, so we thought it would be a good way to bring attention to the line," says owner Navin Megji, who plans to continue hosting pop-ups with other designers going forward.

And if the line ever deserved the attention it's this season, which is full of firsts for Wren. It's the first collection to incorporate prints, from cardigans tie-dyed in Coker's kitchen to preppy diagonal stripes, hand-drawn line sketches and the aforementioned batik motifs, which were all handmade in India. graphic tees for spring, splashed with phoenetic French phrases in a spindly typeface. "Wren is for girls with an eclectic style, who like to mash things up," explains Coker of this season's explosion of color and print. "It's for the Alexa Chungs of the world." Somehow, we think the yummy mummies of Brentwood will also approve.
