When we didn't see Brian Lichtenberg, Fremont and Joyrich on this season's BOXeight schedule, we assumed they were still recovering from last October's event. But it turns out they've defected for The City of LA (COLA) Fashion Week, which will be kicking off Market Week at an as-yet-undisclosed location in Downtown's Fashion District. Along with the aforementioned designers, B.Son, Eksempel, and COA will take to the runways between March 20 and 21—although COA, confusingly, is also listed on the BOXeight schedule.
According to founder Dani Michelle, "This event is about showcasing designers who share the same vision and a common understanding of the inspiration a runway show is to the fashion business. COLA is about encouraging and supporting this city's talent. Our desire is to set a standard of sophistication that will invite fashion moguls and originals back to the West Coast." A pretty lofty goal, but given the absence of celebrity lines and tacky swimsuit labels, we think this seems like a good start.
