Collabs: Opening Ceremony Helps Betsey Johnson Celebrate the Big 3-0

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Betsey Johnson's label is about to turn 30, and to celebrate, the collaboration-happy owners of Opening Ceremony are releasing 35 pieces inspired by Johnson's designs. The collection will begin with Johnson's mid-60s label Paraphernalia and follow her career to the present day, but the looks won't be 100% authentic to the era—Opening Ceremony plans to update them with new patterns. Given Johnson's punky and slightly wacky aesthetic, this seems like an ideal match, not to mention a perfect 30th birthday present. We'll be looking out for it next fall, when it arrives in the LA store.
