Bowing to economic pressure, American Apparel has decided to clip its vintage wing, California Select, turning it from a line of stand-alone stores to a section within existing AA shops. What this means for LA: We're not going to get the rumored California Select on Melrose, and the one in Echo Park is closing down. The company will preserve their California Select store in Berlin, though, presumably because Berlin is the only place with enough hipsters to support a vintage store that can't survive in Echo Park.
