Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
In an effort to make reading Racked as much like being at Fashion Week as humanly possible, we'll be liveblogging the shows all week, from the suspense of waiting in line (will the seats be any good?) to the drama of the runway (will anyone stumble?) to the post-show euphoria. This time around: whimsical womenswear from Thakoon.
Show location: Eyebeam on West 21st and 11th Avenue
The skinny: We arrived to our seat just before the show began, and so any celeb-spotting was held until the finale. As for the show, we noticed very few prints and an inordinate amount of dyed fur. The Giuseppe Zanotti disco ball heels were stunners.
Celebs spotted: Ikram Goldman (Michelle Obama's kinda-stylist), Grace Coddington, The Sartorialist and Linda Fargo, VP of Womens at Bergdorf.
The takeaway: Fur in shades inspired by tropical birds mixed with disco ball, '70s influence. We were disappointed at the lack of prints and the abundance of shaggy fur, but loved the silver sequins encased in black tulle.
