It can be hard to get in the Christmas spirit when it's in the 70s outside. These pictures of the Neiman Marcus window display, shot during the rainy last weekend, might help you summon the mood?for a Christmas on the open seas, or out on the Great Plains. No, these aren't strictly holiday displays: Neiman Marcus is working with the organization First Book to promote literacy, by raising funds to purchase books for underprivileged li'l readers. The displays reflect classic elements in literature, like pirates, cowboys and Indians, and apparently, pink-afroed hippie bohemians. We love literacy, we love whimsy?but we gotta scold someone for implicitly recommending that a tyke's first book is all about the Jonas Brothers. Hey, we're not saying it has to be The Brothers Karamazov, but what's wrong with something like The Pokey Little Puppy or Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing? Oh, Disney is also involved?which explains everything.
