We stopped by the multidesigner sample sale hosted by StyleQ just to see how multi and designer it really is. Housed in the former Mulberry store at 8407 Melrose Place, the small shop had 5-6 racks full of pieces from a handful of designers, very dress-heavy, mostly from fall and holiday 2009 collections. We spotted some Nanette Lepore long-sleeve black dresses for $123, Black Halo strapless and sleeveless dresses for $110-$145, Kensie tanks for $25 and a couple of big red coats for $79, Robert Rodriguez ruffled tanks for $52, skirts for $63 and $74, a cream beaded bubble tank for $71 and party dresses for $180 to $295, plus yellow Thread Social tanks for $95 and purple and yellow skirts for $110 which we found styled together on their current web site. There was also an abundance of Wendy Katlen gold and white brocade dresses for $45 as well as layered NUJ Novakhett skirts for $110 (which we also spotted on their company website), plus an entire table of jewelry in the back priced at $30 each.
Although we've seen bigger and better, you could definitely do worse. If you need a holiday party dress, this is a place to find one. Bonus: the sale is going on through the end of the month from 11am to 8pm, so if something unexpected comes up for New Year's Eve, now you know where to go.
