How do you improve upon perfection? That was the challenge given to the 31 artists and designers who reimagined the white tee shirt, as part of an effort to raise funds for Designers Against AIDS. The efforts range from quietly innovative to?well, we're told that one designer used the t-shirt to build a tent, while someone else created a tee made out of marshmallows. Huh. Wonder if that was Daniel Palillo, our friend who creates big alien head sweatshirts. Other talents involved in the project include Bruno Pieters, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, and Slow and Steady Wins the Race.
Saturday, December 19, Welcome Hunters will host a reception for the project. You can see the shirts there, and then bid on the designs online. The store is located at 451 Gin Ling Way in Chinatown. We'll definitely be there—already eagerly anticipating the marshmallow tee.
