Our sisters at Racked made such a great impression on the Gap Cheer Squad and Drumline that they invited us to tag along during a day on their LA rounds. We met up with them at the Third Street Promenade and followed them to the Santa Monica Pier. Despite the rain and messy weather, the group of professional gymnasts, cheerleaders and drummers drew a crowd at both locations, especially when they started generously giving out knit hats and coupons for buy one, get one 50% off.
Decked out in Gap flannel shirts, tees, jeans and Converse sneakers, the group performs meticulously rehearsed dance routines, acrobatics and catchy songs. The group has traveled across the country together in their Wi-fi-enabled luxury Gap bus, starting in New York at the end of November and ending in San Francisco next week. Gap gave each of the performers Flip cameras to document their journey (and someone films every performance). Though the rain impeded on the time they spent outside the bus today, the squad spread as much cheer as possible, and will be heading to Westfield Century City and Hollywood & Highland on Sunday followed by a performance on Extra with Mario Lopez on Monday. To get your hands on freebies and coupons, head out to those locations and listen for the sound of the drums or look for the buffalo plaid bus. They're pretty hard to miss.
