Last night, Hugh Hefner made an appearance at Taschen in Beverly Hills to sign copies of his new six-volume Playboy anthology and "illustrated autobiography." The book set comes in a Plexiglas case, with a reproduction of the first issue featuring Marilyn Monroe and an actual 7 x 7 cm square from a pair of the Hef's silk pajamas. Um, ew. Inside the pages you'll find reprints of famous Playboy photos and articles from the first 25 years of the magazine, as well as 700 pages of pure Hefner (the total book set is over 3,000 pages).
Hefner dropped by a little after 7:00 and disappeared into the second floor of the store for about an hour to prepare for his signing. Guests mingled around, sipping champagne and chatting with the Playboy bunnies. When Hefner descended to greet his adoring public, he brought Pamela Anderson with him. Squeezed among the mass of popping flashbulbs and raised iPhones, we managed to snap a few photos for your enjoyment. It didn't take too long for Hugh to personalize all the purchased copies of his book... after all, you have to drop $1,300 for one of 1,500 copies.
