Neiman Marcus' Last Call
has long been one of our favorite corners on the Internet, so naturally, there was much rejoicing when we learned a real, live one would open at The Block at Orange. The other three closest locations are at the Camarillo outlets, the San Diego/Mexico border, and on the way to Vegas, so while it's not in our own backyard, it's still a lot more convenient.

The 30,000 square foot store has been open for just over a month—the truth of the matter is that we went down during the first weekend, but it was too packed to be remotely enjoyable. And everyone knows outlets only get good after they've been open for a while, and there's been ebb and flow in merchandise from the feeder stores. So we went back last night for some deep investigation.

If you love labels, have a little dough, and don't mind wearing something that's at least a couple of seasons old—or you just like looking at really pretty clothing—this place is paradise. Ample selections of Prada, Chanel, Balenciaga, Blumarine, Jean Paul Gaultier?on down to DVF, Elizabeth and James, Phillip Lim, Alice + Olivia, See by Chloe, and more. One of those Prada dresses we spotted at Loehmann's was here, but it was twice the price. Bummer.

The shoe department amazed with its selection (Marni, LAMB, Louboutin, Siegerson Morrison, Tory Burch), but not so much with its prices. Granted, some of the more exclusive brands usually don't show up on NeimanMarcus.com, much less on sale, but if you're an intrepid (or obsessive) shopper, you can bag newer merchandise at cheaper prices by watching the online sales.

Decent selection of staples, too. All the usual brands for jeans, activewear and tees: Juicy, True Religion, Hudson, James Perse, etc.

And how's this for incentive to check it out: They're currently running store-wide specials of 20% selected merchandise. And on top of that, there's a discount for purchasing with the NM card. You've definitely got to be patient and willing to dig (and willing to make the drive down in the first place), but you'll be prettily rewarded.
