Los Feliz may not be the heartland, but it's geographically—as well as metaphysically—pretty far from the beach. The Wellen popup at X-Large/X-Girl brought three day's worth of sandy shores and gnarly breaks to us pasty East Siders. The X-Girl transformation was pretty thorough: the entire inventory was moved out and the clean, well lit space (one of the nicest spots in the village) was filled with surfboards, surf art, and of course, surf-inspired clothing. Mainly tees, most of which were selling for $20, but a few sweatshirts, button-downs, and shorts, too.
