Hunting for Treasure on the Sidewalks of Silver Lake

Any sun-soaked Saturday down in the Sunset Junction area of Silver Lake is a pretty good time, with no shortage of things to buy and see. This past Saturday, the 3500 block of Sunset upped the fun quotient with a sidewalk sale, including offerings from merchants like MAS, Living Room, a new vintage shop called Funkee Town, and Mercado. The event was on the smallish side, but there was still a good array of merchandise. Clothes, furnishings, shoes, accessories and gifty items, and general funkiness. Some for dirt cheap. Like those amazing leather sandals pictured above for $8. That red and white Diane VonFurstenberg dress (in the pictures) was a resale dream for only $10. MAS offered some good deals on new, more designery duds, like T by Alexander Wang dresses for $50, and a $75 rack with dresses by Geren Ford, 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent, and Mike & Chris. And then there was that adorable paper-mache giraffe. When we left, it still appeared that he needed a new home. He may be out again for the next sidewalk sale; we'll let you know.
