For the first time in 20 years, the Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalog won't have any insane, $1M+ items this Christmas. We get that flagrant consumerism is out of style now, but no one is really suggesting that anyone buys those things. Only one $1M+ item has sold in the past 10 years. At that point the message isn't even aspirational, it's just weird and funny. Every year we get a huge kick out of seeing whatever cracked-out toys someone has dreamed up. We are somewhat mollified by the presence of the Cupcake Car. [WSJ]
