A canvas "Birkin" and a pearl-covered tee by Slow and Steady Wins the Race
Chain Urban Outfitters is poised to release a dizzying assortment of new designer collaborations. Style File has the list: There will be jewelry line GUAM from designer Brian Crumley, Dark Matter bags by Knox, and a yet-to-be-named hat collection from lauded milliner Eugenia Kim.
And then there's the pop-ups. Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon is bringing her Mirror/Dash line to Urban's Hollywood pop-up shop Space 15 Twenty in April. A month later the spot will host Cool Casual by Mary Ping, the designer behind newish label Slow and Steady Wins the Race. Ping: 'The idea is, eight items for $88. There are a couple of leather pieces that have to go for more—but that's still a pretty amazing bargain.' It's also a great chance for Ping to disseminate her designs—logo-free, mostly colorless takes on the urban uniform (t-shirts, wedges, designer handbags and button downs all done in interesting materials)—to a wider audience.
