Designer Collabs: Rodarte and Des Kohan Create Candles

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Rodarte's candle will be avail at Barneys; Des Kohan's candle is avail online and in-store

A gorgeous Grecian Rodarte gown is definitely on our fantasy must-have list. We'd also love an unlimited shopping spree at Des Kohan, the gem of a boutique just north of Wilshire on Cloverdale, which carries labels such as Erin Fetherston, Vena Cava, Ritsuko Hirashama and, also a fave, owner Desiree Kohan's own collection. But, alas, budgets do not allow for the vast majority these days. Coincidentally, the LA-bred designers of Rodarte and Des Kohan have both collabed recently (not with each other) to create limited edition eco candles.

Rodarte teamed up with Lexus Hybrid Living to offer exclusively through Barneys in NYC and Beverly Hills a candle and bracelet set. FWD reports "The candle is made of natural soy, recyclable glass and is scented with Hawaiian orchid, camellia flower, sweet musk, Mirabelle plum, and Japanese quince."

And today, we got word that Des Kohan has created a signature amber candle with Archipelago, also soy, a hand-poured mix of amber and wood scents, plus essential oils for $34 and avail in-store and online at Des Kohan. The Rodarte candle is not yet in per Barneys, which also did not have pricing info, but we're hoping it's also a little luxury that's easy on the pocket.
