Today kicked off the first day of the Fred Segal 50% off sale. And though the parking lot was completely jammed—you have to wait for someone to leave before you can get in—negotiating the sale was not overly hectic. There's, of course, tons of additional racks hauled in for the merch—from Madison Marcus, Alexander Wang, Mike & Chris and Rag & Bone to Vivienne Westwood and Marc Jacobs. The most concentrated number of shoppers are on the first floor of Ron Herman and every nook and cranny of the shoe section is given to Christian Louboutin, Versace, Dsquared, Jimmy Choo, Prada, etc. and people angling through the tight aisles of nearly ceiling-high shelves. Upstairs its less busy, and any area not on sale is completely desolate. At this point, there weren't any overwhelming register lines and no intense jostling. If you want to avoid the parking mayhem, street parking is the way to go.
