In LA, we've seen fire and we've seen rain (at least for three weeks or so in February). We've also seen sunny days that we thought would never end. But that's not really the point: we're still not used to fire in the flats, so when the restaurant above amazing jewelry emporium, Antiquarius, on Beverly Boulevard burned down and damaged the rambling space below, local fans were devastated.
Luckily, estate, one-of-a-kind and custom destination Platt Jewelry has moved into a fresh space shared with fellow displaced retailer Second Time Around Watch Co. And, of course, they've dubbed the new building "Antiquarius 2." Just off Robertson Boulevard, the shops are sure to draw more traffic, although Platt already counts Adam Sandler, TomKat and Kate Hudson among their customers (just to drop a few). And who should prefer Second Time's watches, but The Clooney himself, so . . . enough said.
But, more importantly, dating back as far as the 19th century, Platt's Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco and contemporary bijoux is eclectic, bohemian and beautiful. Owners/siblings Larry Platt and Natasha Tsimmerman come from a long line of Chicago jewelers, so old school attention to detail is paired with a fresh, youthful, new school design sense. Actually, personal service is at an all time high at both Platt Jewelry and Second Time Around Watch Co. So, stop in! Rain or shine or brimstone or whatever.
