Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
This week, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon (co-founders of Opening Ceremony) are guest bloggers for NY Times' The Moment, as "The store’s eclectic edit of labels . . . started as a retail take on the Olympics, pairing U.S. designers with 15 international offerings for a competition of sales." To start, Lim and Leon addressed the redesign of outdated athletic uniforms, assigning new fantasy designers for everything from baseball (Acne) to cycling (Jean Paul Gaultier) to wrestling (Bernard Wilhelm). They even gave themselves table tennis. No doubt Comme des Garcons would make archery more interesting. Dare to Dream. At least for The Moment. [The Moment]
