Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
This is like paying someone to be your personal shopper and your best friend. LalaLuxe has just launched, courtesy of Nicole Pollard ("veteran Angelino and style visionary," per the "About Us" section of the website), a service in which you get chauffeured around while you shop with your Couturenoisseur (stylist) to various LA areas and "Receive the VIP treatment such as wardrobe consultation, warm and personal retail reception, complimentary champagne, private dressing rooms and a celebrity worthy gift bag."
A sampling from the menu of packages includes The Starlet (shop Robertson Boulevard), The LalaLuxe (shop Beverly Hills), and The Golden Goddess (shop Santa Monica and Malibu). If you decide to do a custom trip, you can have LalaLuxe arrange for you to meet with a nutritionist, eat, or get a pedicure or facial, etc. The concierge service is your basic personal shopping, where you don't have to tag along while someone spends your money.
Lalaluxe would benefit those who either don't have a clue about where to shop (Fred Segal, Chanel or the Malibu Country Mart are hardly LA shopping secrets), don't like to or have time to shop, or for out-of-towners who want that starry-eyed LA shopping experience. One of the quotes on the site: “I felt like Hollywood royalty and came away with the wardrobe to match.” No prices are posted on the site, except for a $150 cancellation fee posted under FAQs.
