LeSportsac at 8414 Melrose Avenue has slated its grand opening event, to be co-hosted with Lucky mag, for Thursday, September 18. The 1,565-square-foot boutique—decked with "mid-century Louis Poulsen hanging globe lighting systems and Saairen Tulip tables evoking a stylized interpretation of a 70's era airport lounge," per the release—is the nylon bag label's first freestanding boutique in LA and the ninth in the U.S.

Along with LeSportsac classics, in-store you'll find Stella McCartney for LeSportsac, the new Artist in Residence collection, and the Men's and Guys’ collections. Above left, check one of the current Artist in Residence pieces by Netherlands artist and illustrator Merijn Hos, who goes by Bfree. Above right is a piece from the Men's collection, which has a utilitarian vibe overall, something like Jack Spade, but a bit less sleek and far less expensive. The Guys' collection has contrasting color detail, which makes the line pop a smidge more.

The interior sounds as if it's hedging into Flight 001's territory, although glossier and less retro.
