Auctioneering: DWR Goes Pink for Susan G. Komen

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We hate to say it, but going pink in the name of fighting breast cancer—though an undeniably good cause—has become so commodified that you want to make sure your money is going to a reputable organization. That's why we're thankful for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, which continues to reinvigorate the cause with inventive partnerships and events.

Komen is currently partnering with DWR for a Race for the Cure, held across the country and in Newport Beach Sunday, September 28 (free DWR/Komen tee to run in). In conjunction with the race, DWR has teamed up with Emeco, Fritz Hansen, Herman Miller®, Knoll® and Spinneybeck® Leather "to auction five fully licensed, special-edition chairs in pink." Auctions will be held at the end of September, and DWR instructs bidders to check back the week of September 22 for more details and to bid.

From left to right above, items include the Eames® Management Chair (retails for $1,999), the Wassily™ Chair (retails for $1,824), the Saarinen Tulip™ Stool (retails for $1,014), the Heritage Rocker (retails for $825), and the Swan Chair (retails for $3,045). Click here for more details.
