Party (S)hopping: Vintage LA at Fred Segal

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Author Jennifer Brandt Taylor offers up her version of Los Angeles in her new book Vintage LA, an insider’s guide to all places old glamour here in The City of Angels. Amidst pages of restaurant reviews and shopping hotspots, interviews with famous Angelenos like journalist Dominick Dunne and radio personality Rodney Bingenheimer, you’ll find hundreds of pics of Hollywood landmarks snapped by photographer Janeen Lund.

Last week at Fred Segal on Melrose, Taylor hosted a book-signing and encouraged guests to wear their best old glamy outfits, offering prizes for the best dressed. Even the Segal staff adorned their cutest vintage while they served champagne. A few guests we spoke to admitted that their get-ups were actually only vintage inspired, but wanted to play along for the event. Photos of our faves above.
