The smaller, more boutique-y The Market by Vons opened in Long Beach, and now Angelenic has news that it will be hitting Downtown too, according to "sources familiar with the project": "The official site and opening date have not yet been released. The Market is a small-format grocery store—about 15,000 square feet—being tested in urban neighborhoods in Southern California. Though it’s unofficially held up as 'a mini-Whole Foods,' marketing materials proclaiming 'A refreshingly simple way to shop' leave no doubt as to who its competitors are." Meanwhile Angelenic, and likely many Downtown denizens, are just happy at the idea of having markets to choose from. Photo of the Long Beach The Market via the Orange County Register.
