We saw it coming, and now luxury Italian jeweler Damiani has opened its doors on Rodeo, a few steps north of Wilshire. Per the release, the boutique concept was conceived by Italian architect Antonio Citterio, who used materials such as mahogany santos wood, amber glass, bronzed brass, and furnishings with "minimal chic shape."
Recently ousted from a Dior campaign in China for stating that the Chinese had been unkind to Tibetans, Sharon Stone has been tapped by Damiani for its ad campaign. Per The Cut, "the campaign is inspired by female icons throughout history — like Amelia Earhart and Gertrude Ederle, the first woman to swim across the English Channel. In a nod to literalism, Stone appears in some of the ads with goggles on her head (above), or a swim cap, or a medal (too bad the Olympics are in Beijing — these just beg for sporting-event placement)." The actress "only agreed to appear in the campaign since the company promised to donate 2 percent of sales to a charity that helps provide clean drinking water in countries where diamonds are mined." You can just imagine the Damiani peeps crossing their diamond-encrusted fingers and hoping Stone will shhhhhhhhhh.
