Designer Collabs: Steven Alan for Urban Outfitters

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Following Geren Lockhart's Hawks by Geren Ford collection for Urban Outfitters, retailer/designer Steven Alan will be also creating a collection for the chain, called Lark & Wolff. Per The Cut: "Slated to hit stores around July 4 (with new shipments every month), the collection will feature both men's and women's clothes, and have a decidedly rustic-country-sure-I-know-how-to-camp bent. The aim is to draw in a younger customer than Alan's current line, and the collection will retail for $58 to $128."

Though Urban Outfitters is definitely trailing chains like Target and H&M in the designer collab game, Racked NYC notes the distinction between the usual business of having designers do a diffusion line and Urban's tactic: "Instead of asking creatives to design less-expensive versions of their fashion lines, UO has talked a few big names into creating new low-priced brands specifically for the chain." A look from Alan's eponymous collection shown right.
