The Skinny On Dockers

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Uh-oh, Dockers is trying to be more fashion-forward. Per DNR, the men's label is trying to accomplish this with new slimmer fit pants, which, from what we can tell, look virtually indecipherable from regular Dockers, except—amazing!—with a big straighter fit. "...the Levi Strauss & Co.–spawned brand is hoping that new, moderately svelte fits will grow into a significant segment of its bottoms business. Dockers executives estimate that slim and straight styles will comprise 20 to 25 percent of bottoms sales by spring 2009." [DNR]
