Above the Fray: Chanel Fall 2008 Collection Preview

Chanel Boutique on Rodeo is hosting a preview for its fall/winter 2008 collection. It’s business as usual on the first floor, with the space abuzz with Chanel enthusiasts. But customers seem completely unaware of the preview going on one level above. A sales rep told Racked the store is receiving heavier foot traffic in response to the preview, but only a few shoppers and a lone stylist were seen scanning the collection and sipping champagne.

Collection stand-outs included a trio of silk cocktail dresses. A dress in blush with a black hem was particularly lovely—both edgy and feminine—but was disappointingly placed on a mannequin and paired with black tights. Really? Black tights? It was like they found the one piece that was really fresh and made the entire outfit look like something Lauren Conrad would wear to Villa. Despite this merchandising stumble, it’s worth checking out if you’re in the market for some new Chanel or simply love the brand. You can browse samples and reserve or pre-order your favorite garments. Preview ends Friday, June 13 at 4pm. [RackedWire]
