Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Rackage is a look inside recently-opened stores around town. Today, let's look inside Miu Miu on Rodeo Drive.
The new Miu Miu on Rodeo Drive sits (luxuriantly) in sharp contrast to its old digs on Melrose Avenue. Not that the Melrose Avenue boutique wasn't nice, but it was awash in white, antiseptic, austerely minimalist. The Rodeo boutique is all sumptuousness, from the antique-y green brocade that falls in substantial curtains from high-high ceilings to the pretty-as-you-please flouncy baby doll dresses and sparkling heels. It feels like an incredibly lavish dress shop fantasy. Of course, shopping in there is a bit of a fantasy, too. We might be able to afford $90 cuffs (no shirt, just the dainty cuffs), but that's about it.
