As part of a larger expansion plan to grow from 26 to 50 stores this year, Kate Spade opened its 1,100-square-foot shop at Americana at Brand May 2. Women's Wear Daily reports this is just the beginning of the Kate Spade retail push: "That store is to be followed this month by launches at the Westfield Century City and The Oaks at Thousand Oaks malls, and on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena." By 2010, the company would like to add another 40 shops, in addition to the projected 50. [WWD]
