The Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel is up for auction on eBay for 10 days, with a minimum bid of $50,000. The Los Angeles Times reports that the nine-story wheel (the first solar-powered Ferris wheel in the world) will be replaced with a $1.5 million modern model next month. "The wheel cost $800,000 when it was built... Half the winning bid—minus fees—will be donated to the Special Olympics. A support base for the wheel costs another $135,000." Oh, and the buyer is responsible for shipping costs. [LAT]
