In a 2,300-word article in WWD today, the fashion trade publication coined the term "delebrity," referring to the onslaught of celebrity-cum-designers. The bottom line is celebrity sells: "At their peak, these apparel lines can generate revenues in the hundreds of millions, while a hot celebrity fragrance can generate sales of another $50 million or more in its first year in store."
