West Hollywood: There's a lot of movement on Melrose Avenue—that stretch between San Vicente and La Cienega Boulevards.

1) Not only has Balenciaga just set up shop, but master of the feminine and fluttery, Milanese designer Alberta Ferretti, has plywood up for her boutique a short walk east.

2) Upscale kitchen and bath purveyors Waterworks is moving its shop from west to east of San Vicente.

3) And in rock-and-roll meets fashion news, Velvet Revolver/former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum and designer Max Noce —who cut his teeth at Karl Lagerfeld, Ungaro, Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana—have teamed up to create Sorum Noce, a label and boutique of rock-inspired couture. Nestled across the street from Urth Caffe, the boutique is set to open in mid-April. Check the lookbook online, featuring Slash and other Velvet Revolver bandmates, which surprises with tailored suits, knit sweaters and leather pieces fit for a gent.

4) Considering the influx of high-end retail, the former Indian Style spaces (there are two side-by-side) now for lease and just steps from Balenciaga may be prime boutique real estate.
