Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The holiday shopping parties are revving up around the city, filled with promises of merriment and good deals. And though holly is great and all, it's clear that retailers are hoping you'll deck the halls with new merch. We'll let you know about those of interest, and even if your pocketbook is not exactly overflowing, you can at least grab some spiked punch along the way.
Blood is the New Black tee left; Generic Man shoes right
The food (organic offerings from Green Truck) and drink (open bar courtesy of Encyclopedia Wines, a new release from Francis Ford Coppola) intrigued us, but the list of deals and designers at the Recessionista Holiday Sale this Saturday, December 6 from noon-8pm (Pool Tradeshow Offices, 2900 Rowena Avenue, Silver Lake) is definitely the clincher.
The goods include men's and women's contemporary lines, accessories, jewelry, items for home, stationery and books. Highlights include artists tees from Blood is the New Black at 50%-90% off; Generic Man shoes at 25%-50% off retail; Soolip paper; wallets, plates and books from Poketo for $10; Cocaine Mule canvas bags for $10-$100; LA Record vinyl, zines and stickers for up to 50% off; Lily McNeal sweaters at 70% off, and much, much more. Admission is free and DJ Nite Dog will be spinning. [RackedWire]
