Bloomingdale's, like every other department store out there, is feeling the pinch this year. So they've begun cutting costs. Today, we got word from a tipster that Bloomies has folded its "custom magazine" Little Brown Book, which goes out to premier credit card holders. According to Custom Publishing Council, the quarterly magazine, which was launched in November of 2005, had a circulation of 150,000 and was published by Rodale. The move to discontinue Little Brown Book was confirmed by Bloomies PR team, who issued this statement:
The last issue of the Little Brown Book in its current digest form will be February 2009. We are continuing to look at various ways to communicate to our best customers, whether electronically or through direct mail. The Little Pink Book, which supports the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), which is part of Bloomingdale's philanthropic cause-related marketing, will be published in October 2009 during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
