The holiday shopping parties are revving up around the city, filled with promises of merriment and good deals. And though holly is great and all, it's clear that retailers are hoping you'll deck the halls with new merch. We'll let you know about those of interest, and even if your pocketbook is not exactly overflowing, you can at least grab some spiked punch along the way.

The Santa Monica Museum of Art is raising money for its exhibitions and programs via two shopping parties, starting with live music, open bar and silent auction at Equator Books (1103 Abbot Kinney Boulevard) Friday, December 7 from 7pm-10pm. Local artists and items from local businesses will be featured in the auction. It is a benefit, and there is an open bar, so it will be $20 at the door.
Saturday, December 6 from 5pm-8pm, the Museum's store (at Bergamot Station, 2525 Michigan Avenue) Gracie will host an exclusive Alan Kupchick art show, the photog's works described as "boldly chromatic and richly evocative," including a limited edition boxed set "Three Small Photo Books." No word on pricing, but a little online research pulled up digital prints by the artist for $250. [RackedWire]
