Right next to the recently shuttered Kira Plastinina on the 3rd Street Promenade, we find out from Tabloid Baby that Borders will be closing as of Saturday, January 10.
The blog notes that this might not be such a bad thing for neighboring book purveyors: "The closure may be good news to one competitor besides the Barnes & Noble at the other end of the Promenade: Village Books in neighboring Pacific Palisades, which is fighting to stay alive amid competition from chains like Borders."
