Inspired by Jean Cocteau's surreal version of Beauty and the Beast from 1946, LA jewelry designer Kathryne Cassis has created an eclectic collection of costume jewelry "La Belle et La Bete," now available at Kristin Londgren on West 3rd Street. An intriguing mix of antique and vintage findings—Czech glass beads, chains, enameled flowers—the one-of-a-kind range runs from $200-$400 and definitely makes a statement. From the release, Cassis "wanted to capture the elegance, mystery and dazzle of the film, the lacy filigree on the Beast’s costume, the magic of his palace and of the jewels he gives to Beauty." Fairy tale beginnings or not, the effect is sophisticated and definitely not saccharine. [RackedWire]
