You can see the rock star appeal at A&G by Amal Guessous—literally. While we were in there, Earth, Wind & Fire's Verdine White came in to pick up a cropped black jacket with leather appliqué and the brand's signature sterling silver zipper pulls, something you can imagine the bassist wearing on stage. In the exposed beam space (drum kit along the west wall, a massive chandelier center), White continued to browse the custom cashmere and knits, with lots of leather and hardware details. There's jewelry in yellow and white gold and sterling, too.
Here, T-shirts start at around $45; sweatshirts at $125; cashmere runs around $300-$500; for men's jackets, you'll pay closer to $800. The rock vibe translates to lots of crosses and tattoos, but less blingy looking and higher quality than, say, Ed Hardy. A&G also has licensing deals with Kiss, the Sex Pistols and The Beatles, so if you're ever in the market for a luxurious cashmere Sex Pistols crewneck, this is the place.
