Traffic was brutal approaching the Paper Mag LA Invasion launch last night. No On Prop 8 protestors had taken to the street and were steadily marching east on Sunset, further clogging both sides of the congested boulevard. The social demonstration complemented the left-leaning pop-up party, with Santa’s Party House DJ Spencer Sweeney and Andrew WK bopping around beneath an Obama Victory poster and shouting messages like “We’re here to celebrate possibilities!”
Possibilities, yes. But also the Paper Project. The weekend cultural extravaganza space will morph into its centerpiece on Friday. The 24-hour Cultural Department store, open to the public at 8873 Sunset at San Vicente, will carry designers like Opening Ceremony and Jeremy Scott, while Converse presents 24 hours of musical performances, including Lady Tigra and Entrance. Good times, no doubt.
